Westfield quiz night

Merrow were pleased to receive an invitation to Westfield Bowls Club’s quiz night on Saturday, 18th March. Eight of Merrow’s members went along and we entered the quiz as two teams of four. Westfield gave us all a very warm welcome and put us at our ease.

The section on countries’s flags was extremely hard, with lots of guessing going throughout the room. The rest of the quiz was broken up into ten sections of five questions each, with subjects as diverse as Nature and Music.

At the end of the quiz we enjoyed a splendid buffet, together with a raffle, with Merrow winning one of the prizes; a lovely hyacinth. With the quiz results compiled, one of Merrow’s teams (Incognito) managed to secure third place.

A big thank you to Rodney Morrison for getting us all together and individual thanks to Sue, Joan, Lorna, Lesley, Allen, Ken and David for taking part. Thanks also to Westfield for putting on such an entertaining evening and we look forward to hosting a match in July.

Signing-on and other things

A big thank you to all who came along to our signing-on day. If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry, you can still sign-up when next at the club.

Our new fixture list is now on the site (as in your booklet) and sees us playing some new opponents: Horsell, East Horsley and Westfield. It will be interesting to see how we get on against new opposition.

Our indoor fixture against Camberley has moved from February and will now be played in January 2018, so don’t forget to put the date in your diary!

Lastly, our Open Day will be on Sunday, 7th May. There will be two sessions: 10-12am and 2-4pm. Do try to come along and, even better, bring a friend or two.
