Dig for Britain!

Not so much planting potatoes as removing rye grass.

On Saturday, a group of club members got down on their knees to dig out at least some of the rye grass that has invaded our bowls green.

We were fortunate to have a dry day until 3pm, when the heavens opened and maintenance work was abandoned. The areas worked on were seeded and a top dressing applied. Hopefully, the temperatures will stay high enough for the seed to germinate before Winter sets in.

Thanks go to Rodney for organising the day and to the following for getting their hands dirty: Robin, Richard, David E, David and Mo, Ken, Lorna and me, David R, not forgetting Rodney of course.

A second session is planned for Saturday 22nd., so if you can spare a couple of hours, do come along.
